A Civil Society Organization, Abia Coalition For Justice and Equity (ACJE), and an APC Support Group, APC Grassroot Volunteers (APC-GV), have called on the member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Amobi Ogah to withdraw the case filed at the Federal High Court Abuja against the Honourable Minister of State for Labour, Nkiru Onyejiocha.

In a joint statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of APC Grassroot Volunteers, Comrade Egbe Maduka and Comrade Okwute Otuonye, the Convener of Abia Coalition For Justice and Equity on Monday, the groups warned that the desire of Amobi Ogah to prosecute the Minister would jeopardize the unity and development of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Abia and the South East in general.

It described the the action of Ogah as a calculated political tantrum, aimed at tarnishing the image of the minister in the guise of seeking justice.

They cautioned the lawmaker not to tow a path that would undermine the minister, adding that the matter should be jettisoned as according to them it could ruin the chances of the All Progressives Congress APC in the coming elections.

According to the statement, they opined that the prosecution would not be necessary and should be quashed.

It reads in part: “We wish to demand that the member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Hon. Amobi Ogah withdraw his suit against the Honourable Minister of State for Labour, Hon. Nkiru Onyejiocha seeking the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to prosecute her on allegation of forging results of the 2023 election.”

“The actions of the Lawmaker is seen as a political calculation to undermine the image and integrity of the minister and at the same time destroy APC in Abia state thereby paving way to pitch the party under the leadership of Mr President against the people of the state who are beginning to accept the party and Mr President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”

“This act must be avoided and condemned by all Abians, especially at the time when the minister is bringing dividends of her office as minister of state which are evident for all to see.”

“It is important to bring to the notice of Hon. Amobi Ogah that his actions may jeopardize the unity and development of the constituency, Abia and the South East.”

“Furthermore, it is of great importance to state here that irrespective of party divide, the development of the area is sacrosanct.”

“Since the election has come and gone, the aim of the suit is already defeated and we do not want anything that will ruin the good relationship between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the people of the South East and Abia in particular by unnecessary litigation.”

“We demand the Honourable Amobi Ogah forthwith withdraw the suit for peace to reign.”

They once again warned the lawmaker to desist from his attacks on the minister in the guise of seeking justice and fighting election malpractice, adding that continued push by the Honorable Member would be met with legitimate resistance.

Recall that Ogah in a suit filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja South the Independent National Electoral Commission to prosecute the minister for alleged election results forgery.
