APC Chieftain Questions The Wisdom Of Ndi Igbo

A Lagos based APC Chieftain, Joe Igbokwe has questioned the political alignments and calculations of people from the South East of Nigeria from inception to today’s Nigeria.

The politician took to his Facebook page to make known his concern. Posting of Saturday, Igbokwe asked where the style of politics of the South East block has led them so far.

Igbokwe, a strong supporter of President Tinubu believes Ndi Igbo should realign with a more progressive politics and jettison the politics of tribal sentiment and be more robust with other blocs.

While he ironically acknowledged that people of the South East are considered wise people, Joe queried the political behaviour of the South easterners, their thinking, policies, decisions, conduct and political engagement.

He wrote, “They say we are wise men and women from the East abi? Now where did our being wise led us to? Wise behavior? wise thinking? wise policy? wise political calculations? wise decisions? wise conducts? wise engagements?”

The political space in Nigeria has been heated up by politicians and their political activities, especially with the coming on board of the opposition coalition, led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, among other political heavyweights in Nigeria, including the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.

Ignokwe’s comment is coming on the heels of the recent announcement by Atiku Abubakar that the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress, the adopted political party of the coalition would be decided by delegates.

Recall that former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi had submitted a proposal to the coalition for him to do a single term of four years and hand over to the north in 2031 which came with strong opposition by some from the north who have expressed mixed feelings on the sincerity of Obi to keep his word.

The South East has been agitating for a chance at the presidency, and Peter Obi, who is from the South is has enjoyed massive support from across the six geopolitical zones, as many believe he is the most credible candidate for the top job.
