ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT TO RELOCATE FACULTY OF LAW TO MAIN CAMPUS.

The Faculty of Law of the Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), will formally return back to the main campus in Uturu in June, 2025. This is coming on the heels of the conclusion of the second semester.

The decision to relocate the faculty was reached at the Weekly State Executive Council Meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti, on Monday.The move is part of the administration’s broader efforts to enhance higher education in Abia State.

According to governmentsources, the delay in relocating the faculty was attributed to necessary logistical, procedural, and accreditation requirements mandated by relevant professional bodies, as well as considerations for students with pending examinations.

Recall that the law faculty was removed from the main campus to Umuahia by the administration of former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

With the relocation now confirmed, the government reiterated its dedication to quality education, institutional development, and academic excellence, positioning Abia State as a hub for transformative education.

In a related development, ABSU has recorded a significant increase of 48% in first-year student admissions, with enrollment rising from 4,196 students last year to 6,042 this year. The state government remains committed to maintaining strict admission standards for professional courses such as Law, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Nursing, ensuring the integrity and credibility of the educational system.
