Abia Police Command Bans PoS Operations Within Police Premises

The Commissioner of Police Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa has charged police officers attached to the command to desist from detaining suspects more than 24 hours for bailable offenses.

CP Isa gave the charge in Umuahia on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at the command’s monthly conference with senior officers, including Area Commanders, DPOs, Tactical Commanders, and Heads of Departments.

The CP commended officers and men of the command for their dedication but stressed that greater responsibility is required, as “to whom much is given, much is expected”.

He urged officers to maintain professionalism, avoid corruption, and strictly adhere to the NPF Social Media Policy.

A statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka said CP Danladi warned that senior officers would be held vicariously liable for misconduct by their subordinates, hence they must ensure proper supervision of officers under them, He further stressed “prohibition of POS operations” within police premises.

According to the statement, the meeting featured Medical and safety tips by ACP Emenike Chinenye, Rules of engagement by ACP Alabi Adebowale and Best PR practices and capacity building by the PRO DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka.

He urged officers to secure their bases, protect government infrastructure, and work in synergy with mayors of Local Governments and the public for effective crime-fighting.

The conference ended with the official recognition and congratulations of Abia state command PRO DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka for being an Awardee of the IGP and for her successful completion of a short course on New Media Capacity Building in China.
