Abia LP: Sir Emmanuel Otti Warns Against Divisions In The Party
The chairman of the ruling Labour Party in Abia State, Honourable Sir Emmanuel Otti, has charged the party faithful to stay united as one big family and rally around the governor, Dr Alex Otti, as he continues to provide dividends of democracy to Abians.
Sir Otti gave the charge in Aba on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, during an interactive session with the party members as part of the local government sensitization tour by the State Working Committee, SWC of the party.

He reminded them that there is no difference between Abia Arise, —the support group of the governor, and the Labour Party. He explained that all efforts from both sides should be channeled towards bringing in more people into the fold of the party and to achieve victory for the party in 2027.
“There is no dichotomy between the Labour Party and Abia arise. The party is working for the betterment of the party and his excellency, Dr Alex Oti, same as Abia arise. We are the same.”

This is coming on the heels of a recent disagreement between members of Abia Arise and the Labour Party. While the party members see themselves as the real owners of the governor, Abia Arise claim to be the authentic supporters of the governor.
Speaking at the premises of Osisioma Local Government Area, Sir Otti told both parties to sheath their swords and work together as one big family, adding that both should hold their meetings together.
According to him, the aim of the tour is to sensitize the party faithful and the public on the need to register and get the permanent voters card in readiness for the 2027 elections.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission, Aeneck, released a report recently which showed a very low number of registrants from Abia and the Southeast geopolitical zone in general.
On his part, the Executive Mayor of Osisioma Local Government Area, Honorable Chris Chidebere Agu, appreciated the State Working Committee, SWC, of the party for the visit. He buttressed the point made by Sir Otti on the need for all and sundry to take advantage of the ongoing continuous voter registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to improve the voting strength of the local government.

He assured the SWC, of the maximum support of Osisioma Council Area for the governor and the party, adding that the INEC office in the council headquarters is open while staff are willing and ready to assist people to get registered.
The meeting saw stakeholders of the opposition people’s Democratic Party, PDP, join the Labor Party.
The high point of the event was the adoption of Dr. Alex Otti as the Labour Party’s candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial polls.

Many dignitaries, including government officials, the Osisioma legislative council members, party chieftains, women groups, pro-groups among others, attended the event.
