Abia LP Announces LG Tour

As political parties gear up for the 2027 general election, the State Working Committee (SWC) of the Labour Party in Abia State, says it has concluded arrangements to embark on a tour of all the 17 Local Government Areas in the State, to announce that the party is kicking fine amid speculations that crisis has crippled it.

The party also said through the tour, it intends to reach out to all aggrieved members and re-strategize for the purpose of forming a formidable front ahead the 2027 general election.

Addressing Labour Party Chairmen of all the 17 LGAs of the State during a meeting held in Umuahia on Wednesday, the State Chairman of the party in Abia State, Sir. Emmanuel Oti, appreciated the LGA Chairmen for turning out en masse for the meeting, adding that time has come for all to redouble their efforts.

Oti said as part of efforts to reach out to those who feel aggrieved, the SWC will, on the 13th of July, 2025, commence a tour of all the LGAs in the State to interface with members who are still nursing grudges, adding that through this, the party will further solidify itself ahead the 2027 general election.

He said, “It is important that we reach out to our members who are not happy for reasons that are not even obvious to us. There is every need now to hear from them, so that we can mend fences together and forge ahead for the purpose of what we need to achieve in the future.”

Otti challenged the LG Party Chairmen not to wait for bigwigs in their LGAs before they convene meetings, adding that by virtue of their positions, they have capacity to hold meetings while inviting the bigwigs to attend so that they can chart a new course for the party in their LGAs.

“Why should you even depend on bigwigs to summon a meeting for you as a chairman of the party in your LGA? That does not show capacity. I have attended meetings summoned by one or two Chairmen here present, so my charge, is that you do more, convene meetings, don’t be redundant,”Oti said.

He charged the LP LG chairmen to work in tandem with the Mayors in their LGAs, saying excuses are much but stressed that the party has an onerous task of ensuring that it is ready to clinch seats in the 2027 general election.

Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, the LP Chairman in Isiala Ngwa South, Ogbonna Smart, said the party in his local government is kicking fine ahead 2027, emphasizing that the Governor Otti is taking care of the party in the LG.

On the proposed tour, Smart said it is essential to inform naysayers that the Labour Party in the State is kicking fine and prepared to win again in 2027, adding that the tour will bring all to a redouble discussion where perfect strategies for 2027 will be marshalled out.

On his part, the LP Chairman in Arochukwu LGA, Mazi Onuoha Nkemakolam, said the party is strong and thriving well in Arochukwu LGA, insisting that the party is well positioned and ready to also clinch victory in the 2027 general election.
