Abia Harmonized Taskforce Unveils New Uniform

The Abia State Harmonised Taskforce has unveiled new uniforms for all the operatives of the taskforce in the State.

Unveiling the new uniform, Chairman of the Harmonised Taskforce and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Uzor Nwachukwu warned against any form of brigandage, criminality, irresponsibility and truancy.

Prince Nwachukwu reminded the members of the Taskforce, that they are representing the state government in the enforcement of its laws and should be of good conduct in order not to bring the name of the government to disrepute.

“Our mandate is to make sure that our land is better than how it has ever been. We are working for the state, we are working for ourselves because this is our place, this is our land,”Prince Nwachukwu stated.

Prince Nwachukwu further charged the Coordinators of the Taskforce to instill discipline among members in their areas or zones as well as punish those whose conducts were averse with the mandate of the Taskforce.

He pointed out that the Taskforce, established in April 2024, has made a lot of progress and thanked the Governor for his massive support in provision of operational vehicles and payment of salaries for the team.

He pledged that the Taskforce would continue to improve as well as operate according to the rule of engagements.

Speaking also, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transport Dr. Obioma Nwaogbe, General Manager Abia State Microfinance Bank, Mazi Chimereze Okeigbo reminded them that a lot eyes are watching and taking notes of their activities.

They enjoined them to assist the government in deriving the Internally Generated Revenue IGR of the State.

Also, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Ease of Doing Business and DG, Abia State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ABSSAA), Chief Mrs. Victoria Onwubiko urged them not to be crude in their dealings with members of the public but maintained professionalism in their job.

Contributing, the Aba Zonal Coordinator, Hon. Uche Nwogu, Umuahia Zonal Coordinator, Col. Emeka while noting that the job is a continuous learning process, urged them to be firm in their assignments and also apply caution.

Lending his voice, an observer and former Commissioner for Youth, Hon. Dannie Ubani encouraged them to approach their duties with human face and as they discharge their duties.

Responding on behalf of the Harmonised Taskforce, the Head of Logistics and Strategy, Chief Fidelis Iheme said they have spent one year of learning and expressed the hope that they would improve going forward.
