Abia Government to Commission 42 Projects and Flag Off 13 New Ones

The Abia State government has announced plans to commission and flag off 55 projects across the state as part of the transformation agenda of Governor Alex Otti.

The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday. According Kanu, out of these, 42 projects are set for commissioning, while 13 will be newly flagged off.

“I am pleased to announce that the Abia State Government will, in the coming weeks, begin commissioning and flagging off a total of 55 impactful projects across the state as part of the ongoing infrastructural transformation agenda of our hardworking Governor, Dr. Alex Otti. Out of these, 42 projects are set for commissioning, while 13 will be newly flagged off. This is truly unprecedented and marks a milestone in our journey of rebuilding Abia.”

A breakdown of these projects shows that the projects include 17 fully equipped primary health centres across all LGAs, 14 road projects, and several other key interventions across ministries and development agencies such as the Ministry of Power & Public Utilities, Lands and Housing, Trade and Commerce, Public-Private Partnership Office, Greater Aba and Greater Ohafia Development Authorities, adding that the specific dates and locations will be announced soon.

Furthermore, the commissioner said the ministry of health has issued an advisory urging vaccination, early symptom detection, improved hygiene practices, and community vigilance in response to the outbreak of diphtheria in neighbouring Imo State. He encouraged people to report suspected cases to the nearest health facility and promptly.

“Additionally, in response to the recent outbreak of diphtheria in neighbouring Imo State, our Ministry of Health has issued an urgent advisory urging vaccination, early symptom detection, improved hygiene practices, and community vigilance. I encourage all citizens to take this seriously and report any suspected cases promptly.”
