Abia Central Youths Warn Against Pre-mature Endorsement Of Candidates For 2027

The Abia Central Youth Forum (ACYF), has expressed deep concern and cautioned against what it described as a “surge in indiscriminate endorsement” of candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections in Abia Central Senatorial District.

In a press release on Wednesday, sighted by Dreamnews, the group acknowledged the right to participate in the democratic process but strongly warned constituents to desist from “premature endorsements” that have the potential to heat up the polity and create disaffection among the people.

The statement which was signed by it’s President, Chief Chinedum Obilor and the Secretary, Mr Ugochukwu Nnadi, pointed out that the incumbent Senator representing the Zone, Distinguished Senator Austin Akobundu has not completed his tenure, arguing that it would be fair to allow the senator complete his tenure before interrogating his scorecard.

“We, the members of Abia Central Youth Forum, are compelled to address the recent surge in indiscriminate endorsement of candidates for the 2027 elections in Abia Central Senatorial District.”

“While we acknowledge the right to participate in the democratic process, we strongly urge citizens to desist from premature endorsements that have the potential to heat up the polity and create disaffection among the people.”

“The incumbent Senator Austin Akobundu has not yet completed his tenure, and we believe it is only fair to allow him to complete his term before interrogating his scorecard.”

“We caution against actions that may lead to unnecessary tension and division among our people. It is imperative that we maintain peace and stability in our district, allowing our elected officials to serve out their terms without undue pressure or intimidation.”

“We urge all stakeholders to exercise restraint and allow the democratic process to unfold naturally. Endorsements and campaigns should be done in a peaceful and respectful manner, without resorting to inflammatory rhetoric or divisive tactics.”

“Let us prioritize the unity and progress of our district, and refrain from actions that may undermine our collective efforts”, it concluded
