2027: Labour Party Charts A New Course

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the leadership of the Labour Party, LP, held an all important National Executive Council, NEC, meeting in Abuja on Friday July 18, 2025.

The meeting, attended by the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti who is the national leader of the party and the only governor elected on the platform of the party was a strategic meeting to resolve the lingering issues in the party and to reposition the party on the party of progress.

Part of the outcomes of the meeting was the election of Senator Nenadi Usman as the interim National Chairman of the party and Senator Darlington Nwokocha as the interim National Secretary.

Also in attendance include the Acting State Chairman of Labour Party in Abia State, Sir Emmanuel Otti and the Abia state secretary of the party, Rev Andrew Ohiagba, among others.

The meeting serves as an important platform for the members to review the party’s progress, address any challenges, and make plans for the future.

It was also an opportunity for the party to receive feedback from its members and stakeholders, and ensure that their voices are heard in the decision-making process. The outcomes of the meeting will have a significant impact on the direction and success of the Labour Party in the coming months.
